Applications in the prescribed forms (in EIGHT SETS) are invited from qualified
candidates of Indian nationality, belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes
(special recruitment) for Backlog posts in the Post-Graduate Departments, Karnatak
University Campus, Dharwad and in the Post-Graduate Centres of Karwar/ Gadag/ Haveri
and Constituent Colleges of this University. A set of eight (8) prescribed application forms
can be had from the “Director, Prasaranga, Karnatak University, Dharwad-03” in person on
presentation of Bank challan for having credited the amount of Rs. 200/- in the State Bank of
India/ Syndicate Bank, Karnatak University Campus, Dharwad or by post duly sending a
self-addressed stamped envelope (28 x 12 cms) duly affixing Rs. 50/- postal stamp along
with a crossed DD for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, K.U. Dharwad,
payable at K.U. Campus, Dharwad or by downloading from University website
www.kud.ac.in in which case the prescribed application fees of Rs.200/- will be payable. (i.e.
downloaded application form fee Rs. 200/- through DD).
The filled-in applications together with necessary documents and a crossed D.D. of
Rs. 400/- as processing fees drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Karnatak University,
Dharwad payable at K.U. Campus, Dharwad should reach the REGISTRAR, KARNATAK
UNIVERSITY, DHARWAD-580003, on or before 12.01.2013 by Registered A.D. Candidates
may also submit their applications in person in the Inward Section and obtain
acknowledgement. The applications without the payment of processing fees will not be
considered.

KNOWLEDGE OF KANNADA IS DESIRABLE FOR ALL THE POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ABOVE POSTS:
PROFESSOR:
An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant
discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with
evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or
research/policy papers.
A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college,
and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries,
including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and
technology – enabled teaching learning process.
A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based
Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulations 2010 in
Appendix III.
OR
An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who
has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/ allied/ relevant
discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:
Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant
disciplines.
A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed). (See Other Conditions No.17)
A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an
academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College
or Accredited Research Institution/ industry excluding the period of Ph.D. (only for full
time scholars) research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as
books and/ or research/ policy papers.
Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses,
and technology - enabled teaching learning process with evidence of having guided
doctoral candidates and research students.

A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based
Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulations 2010 in
Appendix III.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:
Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Languages,
Law, Journalism and Mass Communication
Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least
55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at
the Master's Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent
degree from an accredited foreign university. (See Other Conditions No.17)
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the
UGC like SLET/SET.
Notwithstanding anything contained in above two paras, candidates, who are, or
have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission
(Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall
be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ SLET/ SET
for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in
Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/ SLET/ SET is not conducted.
Those who have obtained Ph.D. degree after 11.07.2009 must have completed Ph.D.
with course work.
Computer Science :
Qualifications as mentioned under the title Assistant Professor.
OR AS PER AICTE NORMS
(AICTE Regulations, 2010)
BE / B.Tech and ME / M.Tech in relevant branch with First Class or equivalent
either in BE/B.Tech or ME /M.Tech
OR
BE / B.Tech and MCA with First Class or equivalent in either in BE/B.Tech or MCA
OR
MCA with First Class or equivalent with two years relevant experience.

Music :
Qualifications as mentioned under the title Assistant Professor.
OR
A traditional and a professional artist with highly commendable professional
achievement in the concerned subject, who should have:
a) Studied under noted / reputed traditional masters and has thorough
knowledge to explain the subject concerned;
b) A high grade artist of AIR / TV ; and
c) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate
knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.
Mathematics :
Qualifications as mentioned under the title Assistant Professor.
OR
M.Sc./ M.Tech. Computational Mathematics with 50%.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the
UGC like SLET/SET. Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission
(Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall

EXPERIENCE OF TEACHING MEANS:
Service rendered in College/ University on a full time basis & in approved UGC Pay
Scales or other Government Scales and duly certified by the head of the institution will be
considered as teaching experience
Part-time/temporary assignments (e.g. Guest faculty) are not considered for the
purpose of computing the teaching experience.
MODE OF SELECTION:
The list of selected candidates will be prepared as per the Government of Karnataka
Notifications:

RURAL CANDIDATE:
• Candidates claming reservation under rural category should have studied and
passed from 1st to 10th std in rural areas governed by prevailing rules relating to
reservations and shall produce a certificate in Form No. 2 issued by the competent
authorities.

PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED:
• Candidates claming reservation under physically handicapped should submit the
certificate from District Surgeon.
EX-SERVICEMEN:
• Candidates belonging to Ex-Servicemen category have to produce necessary
certificates issued by the competent authorities.
OTHER CONDITIONS:
1. Candidate must possess the required qualification/s before the last date prescribed for
the receipt of application.
2. The relevant documents (such as SSLC or Date of Birth Certificate) in support of date of
birth must be enclosed.
3. Latest Caste Certificate showing in ‘D’ form issued by Tahasildar.
4. Appointment to the posts may be permanent depending upon nature of the vacancy and
the requirement of the University. In such case, they will be on probation for a period of
two years according to the rules of the University.
5. Every Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor appointed shall execute a
service agreement to the University signed between the candidate and the University.
6. Candidates selected for the above said posts are liable to be posted to work either at
Dharwad or at any of the P.G. Departments at Karwar/ Gadag/ Haveri or any other
Post-Graduate Department/ Centre established in future, though the posts are shown as
existing at a particular place at the time of advertisement or may be posted to any P.G.
Department with inter-disciplinary/ Multi-disciplinary teaching.
7. Candidates who are in service shall send their applications through their employer
mentioning all the service details (number of years rendered on permanent basis on the
day of application in the post/s, scale of pay, UGC/State Govt. Scale of pay etc.) in the
covering letter by the employer so as to reach the undersigned on or before the last date
prescribed, failing which their applications will not be considered.
8. Others need not apply for these posts as they are clearly earmarked in this
advertisement for SC/ST.
9. The copies of the publications and attested true copies of Testimonials/ Certificates/
Caste Certificates/ Statement of Marks/ Service Certificate should be enclosed to all the
eight sets, which will not be returned.
10. The application and processing fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
11. Separate applications are to be sent for each post (P.G. and UG) by clearly mentioning
the name of the post and subject.
12. All belated, incomplete and not in the prescribed applications form in eight sets and
without payment of processing fees and without the downloading fees (in case of the
downloaded application forms) will be rejected and no further correspondence will be
entertained in the matter.

13. Canvassing directly or indirectly will disqualify the candidate.
14. The right either to fill or not to fill the above posts advertised is reserved with the
University.
15. The appointments will be made, as per the rules in force.
16. The right to select or disqualify the candidates is reserved with the University. No
further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
17. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master's level for the Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled)
categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during
direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the
relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the
qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
18. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree
holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
19. The period of time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil. and /or Ph.D. Degree shall not
be considered as teaching/ research experience to be claimed for appointment to the
teaching positions.
20. Candidates are informed to download the Proforma, provided in the University Website,
in connection with API and fill them up with clarity and legibility. It is mandatory to
attach the proofs for assessment.
21. Candidates are informed to visit UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in for more information on
the Minimum Required Qualifications for different cadres and other details in this
regard. Further, formats for submitting a minimum score as stipulated in the Academic
Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out
in the UGC Regulations 2010 in Appendix III are available in the University website.
